Forts in Old San Juan

Image
We spent the day touring the two forts in old San Juan.  One had stone areas that began construction 550 years ago.  Pretty amazing to see and quite an engineering marvel.  We ate lunch downtown old San Juan at a place called Fatties which was Caribbean/soul food that was quite good.  It was a small hole in the wall place that the 9 of us could barely squeeze into with one lady cooking/working.  We had fried chicken and a stewed pork type plate with rice and beans, plantains, and a salad.  On the way home, we plotted a location close to Laquillo beach to eat dinner name Beachriders where we had some fish tacos with a terrific guava hot sauce. Got home last night about 9pm.  Fun day.

Fajardo

We made it to Ceiba which is near Fajardo.  The house is up in the hills near the rain forest area so the evenings are littered with the sounds of coqui frogs.  We just hung out, kids had some pool time, Jerry and I found a fantastic breakfast joint and we stocked up on groceries.  Great day!
