Captain Bob's Adventures

Today was a quiet and slightly rainy day. The boys did some fishing with Papa, we hung out, read books, and in general just relaxed.  We had breakfast at the main lodge, sandwiches for lunch, and spaghetti, salad, and French bread for dinner.  We ended the evening playing cards and looking at some pictures.  Great day today just relaxing and really one of the things we enjoy about these types of vacations.

We left Albert Lea, MN and headed towards Grand Marais.  We stopped in Duluth and ate at a restaurant which was featured on Diners, Drivers, and Dives called The Duluth Grill.  I had "the pasty" which is a pastry style crust stuff with potatoes, sausage, lamb, carrots, etc.  side of gravy and cranberry and cardamom coleslaw.  We made it to Grand Marais, picked up the last of the groceries and made our way out to Cross River Lodge.

I dropped off Lucy dog at the kennel at 8am sharp and headed back from the Fulton countryside to pick up my crew.  We had packed up the car the night before so the morning load up should be easy.  We were on the road by 9 so pretty good departure. It was a nice leisurely drive through Iowa, lunch at Panera in Des Moines, just into Minnesota to Albert Lea, MN where we would spend our first night.  Everyone else arrived slightly later and we decided to have dinner at Applebee's.  It was a good meal and they were able to find spots for the 13 of us. After dinner we returned to the hotel for rest and to prepare for another fun and scenic day of travel.
