Fried Pies....Nothing else needs to be said

Brothers and sisters, we have gathered here today to talk about heaven....or a little slice of it anyhow.  Mercier Orchards has a very nice store which makes fried pies among many other things in their bakery.  I've had fried pies.  You've had fried pies.  Whether it be the crap pies from McDonald's, the Hostess brand pie, the fried pies from other restaurants, and even the fried pies your Mom makes.  Sorry Mom, but these fried pies were the best fried pies I've ever eaten.  They were.....inspiring.  Apple, peach, cherry, blackberry, blueberry, peaches and cream, strawberry and cream, coconut cream, you name it they had all variety's.  All nothing short of spectacular.  In addition, we got some home made orange cream fudge, some peach blossom local honey, local made peach jam, a coke in a bottle for Leam and a sucker for Landon :)  These pies though, they made me want to...........well I digress.

We started out the day intending to go to a falls that is about 40 miles from here.  We got to the town on our way, and nephew Ben got really car sick. We stopped at gas station, and let it rest, but he was really having a rough go of it, so we decided it better to return home and let him rest.  Roy and the other car went ahead and we headed back to the cabin to give him a rest.  Later, we left out and went downtown to replace the "lost at sea" duck to enable some future races in the stream.  After that we went to the Orchard (see above before I start preaching about pies again), and then to dinner at Blue Orleans Bistro.  Leam had chicken fingers and 2 orders of fries (one just didn't seem to fill him up), Landon had a hamburger and fries, Nan had a roasted chicken breast with a blackberry reduction, prosciutto wrapped green beans, and au gratin potatoes.  I had Salmon on a bed of roasted potatoes, asparagus, black eyed peas, and cherry tomatoes.  Dinner was good but to be honest, it lacked a bit of seasoning it seemed.  I did try their cinnamon bun bread pudding just as a taste test for Jerry.  I don't know Jerry, I think we better keep taste testing in some other locations.......

Now back to those pies................(Lord I apologize...pray for all those starving............)
