Aruba - Day 4 - Arashi Beach

Image
We awoke to another great day.  The weather here is consistently amazing.  We ate breakfast, did a legs and back workout outside on the patio.  We were a hot, sweaty mess afterwards, so did the quick dip in the pool.  We planned to go to Arashi beach so we decided to just eat a sandwich at the house and pack up our goodies.  We had read we needed to take chairs, etc with us so we packed them up, and headed out.  Beach there is beautiful, great sand, and the water was crystal clear as usual.  We lay (my wife, the english teacher confirms this is gramatically correct past tense of lie....even though the country boy in me says it sounds funny) on some towels on the beach and hit the water. We left there around 3:30 and went back to the house to get ready for dinner and get the salt off.  Interestingly, even though we used the same sunscreen, same weather, and same time/activities, we both got a little sunburn today.  I'm unable to figure out why...

Aruba - Day 3 - Beach....

We slept a bit later this morning, breakfast, and did a short bit of Yoga.  Geared up for beach and hit the high rise district again.  Lunch this time at Gilligan's.  Neat restaurant on the beach.  I had a fried grouper sandwich (so much for yoga workout huh?) and Nan had a really good chicken wrap.  We left there and hit the beach.  Sat in a chair in the sun and took a swim in the ocean.  I can think of few things better.  We left there about 5:30pm and dropped by The Beach Bar to see Myla.  I had a rum punch and Nan had a strawberry daiquiri.  We left there about 6:30 or so and walked down the way to find a dinner place.  We decided on JH Yee's Asian Bistro.  I had Tahiti Chicken and Nan had Lo Mein.  Came with Won Ton soup and hot tea.  Food was really great.  We headed back to the house then and called it an evening.  The pool was a necessity to wash off all the sand so I just had to take a dip :) Anot...

Aruba - Day 2 - Beach

We slept to a "reasonable" hour and awoke to eat some breakfast.  Good old peanut butter and jelly on toast on the patio.  Weather is of course remarkable.  We did a 1.25 hour workout outside and then a quick jump into the pool to cool off.  Wow it felt good.  We then showered and put on the beach gear and headed down by the high rise district.  Parked and grabbed lunch at Salt and Pepper where we ate Tapas.  We had teriyaki chicken, bruschetta, leompia, Mahi Mahi, and bread.  Sangria was the drink of choice.  It was the perfect portion and very tasty.  We left lunch and headed to the beach where we enjoyed, powder white sand, nice breezes and beautiful crystal clear water.  It truly is amazing the water here.  Although the temperature outside is about 90 degrees, the breeze makes it feel cooler, and the water is not as warm as you would think.  Still a quick chill when you get in. We left the beach around 5pm and stop...

Aruba - Day 1 - Travel

Image
We got up at 3:30am.  Doesn't that kind of say it all haha.  We took the shuttle over and got a cheap upgrade to business class seating which was totally worth it.  We flew to Orlando then connected to Aruba.  Total flight time was about 5 hours or so.  We got luggage, thru customs, and got the rental car.  With cartoon map in hand (those who have been to islands get this one), we attempted to find our way around.  After driving in a circle for quite some time, we found the house and it was just as advertised.  Perfect.   We dropped our stuff and headed out for some food as we really hadn't eaten much all day.  We found La Petite Cafe but they weren't open until 5pm so we went to a beach bar to burn some time.  After a couple of rum punches, it was time to eat.  We had potato soup, salad, filet mignon which comes out on a hot stone, baked potato, and topped off with vanilla and chocolate ice cream. We drove down to the grocery ...
